Home in Williamsburgh in December 1863, Willie wrote: “Totten and Armstrong I believe are home” (Willie to James, December 27, 1863). The 176th New York’s roster lists several Armstrongs (176th roster, p. 852), and the letter does not say which, if any, Willie meant.
