Max

On guard at Brashear City, Louisiana, Willie lay looking at the stars “wondering what you were all doing at home”. He wrote: “It being Saturday night, I pictured the sun as I thought that Max was in Grand Street buying things for Sunday. Perhaps Pa was along, John in his store” (Willie, June 12, 1863).

No one named Max is listed in the Wade household in the 1865 New York State census (on FamilySearch), so who Max was is not known.
