Letter from James to Mother, January 17, 1864#
Point Isabel, Texas — January 17, 1864
Dear Mother,
In my last letter I informed you that the Paymaster had made his appearance and as an evidence of it I enclose a ten dollar bill. I have no time today to write any more but will write in a few days. An Agent of Adams Express is here and will leave in an hour. I will send $190.00 by him, making $200, which Pa will put in the Bank to my account. You will take out and keep for your own use five dollars a week hereafter, commencing from the 1st day of January 1864.
I enjoy excellent health. No signs of the enemy or no prospects of moving away.
I received a letter from home the day before yesterday. Remember me to all my friends.
Yours Affectionately,
James D. Wade
